LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man walking in the roadway on Interstate 264 was struck and killed late Monday, Louisville Metro Police said.
The crash happened around at the 3.4 mile marker of I-264 eastbound, between Bells Lane and Dumesnil Street.
Investigators said a passenger vehicle hit an adult male who, for unknown reasons, was walking in the lanes of traffic. The driver immediately stopped and called for emergency assistance.
“The driver immediately stopped and called for emergency assistance,” LMPD said.
EMS and Louisville Fire responded quickly, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was not hurt, requested transport to a hospital to be checked out.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Police said no charges are expected. LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
